School flu vaccine sign-up to close soon

Vaccinating kids against the flu (influenza) provides protection to keep your family, school and community healthy throughout the year. There's still time to sign up your child to receive the flu vaccine at school.

Electronic registration is quick and easy. The deadline for registration is Sept. 9 at 11 p.m. Late registrations will not be accepted.

The School-Located Immunization Program (SLIP) provides flu vaccines to students in kindergarten through grade 12 at:

Most Olmsted and Mower County public and private schools.
Hayfield, Kasson-Mantorville and Triton Public Schools in Dodge County.
Pine Island Public Schools.
Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton School in Waseca County.
Cleveland School in Le Sueur County.

The program is supported by Mayo Clinic, Mayo Clinic Health System, Olmsted Medical Center and Olmsted, Dodge and Goodhue County Public Health Services.

The flu vaccine will be offered in the schools as an injection or nose spray (as available). Non-medicine, pain-reducing options will also be offered. Teachers in elementary classrooms can play a short video to ease their students' concerns.
