Fun, active kid-centric program teaches weight management, healthy habits
12/23/2019

Empower your kids — and the whole family — to eat wisely, move more and embrace habits for a healthier lifestyle through the YMCA's Healthy Weight and Your Child Program. This weight management program is designed for kids struggling with obesity who:
- Are seven to 13 years old
- Have a body mass index (BMI) in the 95th percentile or higher
- Receive clearance from a health care provider or school nurse to participate in physical activity
Healthy Weight and Your Child focuses on the whole family, not just the child. In 25, two-hour sessions, groups of 10 to 15 kids and their parents/caregivers explore and adopt proven methods for improving wellness in a safe, fun and active environment. The first hour is devoted to whole-group discussion and learning, followed by 30 minute of kids-only play while adults continue discussing the topic of the day. For the last 30 minutes, adults and children play games together.
