Employee and Community Health (ECH) now offers nurse vaccine slots on evenings and weekends at all ECH family medicine and pediatric sites to help meet the mandate by Rochester Public Schools (RPS) requiring students to have their vaccines up-to-date before school starts on September 5 (July 25 for Longfellow students). Until their vaccines are current, students will not be allowed to attend school.

In addition to the extended clinic hours a Saturday vaccination clinic is available from 8 a.m.-noon on August 12 in the Baldwin building, third floor, to give parents and patients another option.

More than 1,200 students need vaccines before school starts this fall. RPS mailed letters to those families whose children need immunizations. Mayo Clinic, Olmsted Medical Center and Olmsted County Public Health Services are working with RPS to ensure access for students who need to be vaccinated.

Parents may access their children's immunization records through Patient Online Services. Immunization and preventive services schedules are located on our Prevention & Wellness page. You may also check with your child's school for the required vaccinations.

To contact your ECH site, visit our Locations/Hours page for your site's phone numbers. Please note, limited immunizations for those students entering seventh grade are available at Express Care locations; younger children need immunizations administered at their clinic site.

Kristina Hesby, RN, is a nurse in Employee and Community Health (ECH) at Mayo Clinic in Rochester. In her role as school liaison she is a part of the ECH Community Core Team and the School-Located Immunization Program (SLIP).
